Review of MAMBI Weekly Box PunchesOctober 24, 2017December 17, 2019Sky

I admit I am a Happy Planner Addict.  The struggle is real.  If there is a new product from Happy Planner I have to try it out.  I couldn’t wait for the new Mambi Weekly Box Punches to get in stores.  Only to find out later that this item is only available online.  I waited and tried to talk myself out of needing the punches.  The time was right when Michael’s had the punches online and had a great coupon to save even more.   I purchased both the Big and Classic Weekly Box Punches.   I can’t be a true addict without having all sizes to work with, so of course, I needed both. (Notice I did not say wanted)  I couldn’t wait to get them out of the box and start punching to my hearts desire to add to my layouts in my planners.

This is my review of the products and my opinion of the Mambi Weekly Box Punches (Big and Classic).

My Review: First impression was of the size of the punch.  They are both a fairly big punch to hold, but it can be done. Both cut clean and precise on copy paper, card stock, and photo paper.   They both cut through my Avery sticker label paper although the description states it is not designed to be used on adhesive products.  I took sample pictures of my testing for accurate size of the punches verses Vertical Happy Planners.

I hate to admit it but I was disappointed in the Mambi Weekly Punches.  My reason = it does not fit perfectly as stated in the Mambi description.  As you can see from the samples the size of the 2018 Big is longer than the 2016-2017. If you are a washi decorator and you don’t mind having to put washi down over the edges or on top to cover the gap, I could see that these punches would work for you.  The Classic weekly punch is perfect for the 2016-2017, but is too short for the 2018 planners.  The outside of the box states 1.5″ x 2.4″ Classic and 1.89″ x 2.95″ Big.  Being a sticker maker that alone should tell me they do not fit the actual vertical box dimensions.  I am disappointed that I did not research more on these punches prior to purchasing.  I clearly went with the “It’s MAMBI I gotta have it” mindset instead of being a smart consumer.  On a scale of 1 to 10; my rating for the Big Weekly Punch is a 6 and my rating for the Classic Weekly Punch is a 7.  I do not know why the sizes of the vertical planner boxes changed but it does defeat the purpose of buying a punch that just won’t be perfect in my planner (as stated in the description) for 2018.

Hopefully, this article has helped make others a smart consumer and determine if the punches are for you or not.

Until Next Time,
